KAGUNYU PEABERRY

We chose this peaberry for its berry character, which is what we usually look for in a Kenyan. It comes from Kagunyu, a factory in Mukurweini, Nyeri, where smallholders deliver their cherry to be processed. Most of them grow a few hundred SL28 and SL34 trees each on the slopes between Mt. Kenya and the Aberdares.

Peaberry means the cherry formed a single round bean instead of two. The beans are smaller and denser, and tend to give a more concentrated cup.

It is washed, and tastes of dark berries, red currant, and blackberry, with the kind of acidity you expect from Nyeri.

We roast to order in Prague, on the lighter side, to keep each origin expressive and true to how we tasted it at source. Your coffee is packed fresh the same week it is roasted. Rest the beans a few days after the roast date and enjoy within two to three months.
