THA1 – The intersection of tradition and modernity

The Ethiopian Heirloom variety is known for its rich genetic diversity, bringing characteristic flavors such as white flowers, sweet and sour fruits and green tea.

THA1 is a hybrid between Ethiopian origin and Vietnamese Catimor. When combined with Catimor, THA1 not only retains its unique flavor characteristics but also improves growth and disease resistance, suitable for growing conditions in Vietnam.

Because of the Ethiopian heirloom "bloodline":

• THA1 retains the outstanding characteristics of floral and citrus aromas - very similar to traditional Ethiopian profiles.
• The aroma layer is more complex, the acid is bright but pleasant, the aftertaste is clean.
• The body is also soft and fresh instead of heavy.

This also explains why when grown at a good altitude, like at Thy Thy Farm, the THA1 variety shows very delicate notes such as: white flowers, chocolate, citrus - exactly what we are seeing in the new sample of Stupiducks.
